John Cox is University Librarian at National University of Ireland (NUI) Galway. He has a particular interest in digital libraries, open scholarship and scholarly communications. Projects led include digitisation of the Abbey and Gate Theatre archives at NUI Galway and Irish consortium negotiations with publishers.
His publications include review articles on communicating new library roles to enable digital scholarship and positioning the academic library in the institution as well as opinion pieces on access to academic research publications and on open science. He is the current Chair of the Irish Research eLibrary (IReL) Steering Group and is a member of the SCONUL Executive Board.
